Virtual School

Pittsburg Community Schools is excited to introduce the USD 250 Virtual School for the 2026–2027 school year. Designed for students in grades 6–12, the program provides a flexible, high-quality educational option while maintaining the academic expectations, accountability, and support students need to be successful. The virtual school uses the Edmentum learning platform and follows the same academic calendar as all USD 250 schools.

HOW TO APPLY

Families interested in enrolling in the USD 250 Virtual School must first complete the standard USD 250 enrollment process. If you have not completed enrollment for the current school year, you can do that here.

Once standard enrollment for USD 250 is completed, interested families may apply for the USD 250 Virtual School. Applications will be accepted July 1, 2026 through September 1, 2026.

After the application is submitted, district administrators will review each request and make acceptance decisions based on factors such as academic standing, attendance history, and the student's ability to work independently.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The USD 250 Virtual School is a structured online learning program, not a self-paced program. Students are expected to:

  • Participate in online coursework on a consistent daily basis.
  • Maintain regular communication with teachers.
  • Stay on pace with assignments and course requirements.
  • Participate in required Kansas State Assessments and other district assessments.
  • Attend a required orientation before beginning coursework.

Parents and guardians also play an important role by helping students establish routines, monitoring progress, and maintaining communication with school staff. Reliable internet access and a commitment to regular engagement are essential for success.

The USD 250 Virtual School offers another way for students to earn credits toward promotion and graduation while remaining part of Pittsburg Community Schools. Students continue to follow USD 250 policies and procedures and may also be eligible to participate in extracurricular activities in accordance with district and KSHSAA requirements.

Families with questions about the Virtual School are encouraged to contact USD 250 as they consider whether this educational option is the right fit for their student. We look forward to providing another opportunity to meet the diverse learning needs of our students while continuing our mission of Inspiring Excellence in All.
