PITTSBURG, KS. – The USD 250 Board of Education has named J.B. Elliott as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools.
Elliott currently serves as the Superintendent of USD 343 Perry-Lecompton Public Schools, a position he has held for the past seven years. Beginning his educational career as a high school Biology teacher, Elliott progressed and has held the title of Athletic Director, Principal, Curriculum and Instruction Director and Superintendent. Elliott is entering his 29th year in education with the last 21 years spent in administrative roles.
“I am a forward thinker who looks for strategies to prepare the district and all students for the future,” Elliott said. “I [am] excited to bring my high expectations, hard work ethic, dedication, and problem-solving skills to the Pittsburg School District”
Elliott earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Kansas and a Master of Science in Education Administration from Fort Hays State University. He completed his district-level licensure program at Washburn University.
“We are very excited to have Mr. Elliott join our Dragon family,” USD 250 School Board President, Rusty Akins said. “We believe that he will continue progressing our school district and doing what is best for our students, staff and district as a whole.”
A pool of 17 applicants were compiled by McPherson & Jacobson L.L.C. who USD 250 partnered with to assist in conducting the search for the next superintendent.
“We had a very good group of applicants presented to us,” Akins said. “During the interview process J.B. rose to the top through all of our great interview committees. USD 250 is fortunate to be able to hire such a great superintendent.”
Elliott and his wife of 26 years, Casey, are excited to make Pittsburg their home.
